Goodbye for now

To everybody out there who's played with or against me it's been a pleasure being part of the CRPPL. Unfortunately after last season when our C3 side struggled to put out a side and led to me really asking myself why bother, we are in the same boat again this season. I just wish I had known at the start of the season that we were going to struggle once again because we'd not have registered a side. Some things you just can't predict. Graham moving away came just after we'd said we'd gve it a go. Paulo leaving was out of the blue but obviously something he'd wanted to do for a while. Jo Mcguire can't put off having a baby to turn out for us. Other players just don't want to play every week or found the standard too high and didn't want to listen to tactical advice and decided to jack it in. We had 5 people I could count on up until christmas, that drops to 4 in January coz 1 is away for 3 weeks. Out of 11 originally signed it's a bit of a piss take but not everyone is to blame, the numbers were there to allow for people to miss weeks. We all have lives away from pool.

I really don't want to let the league down but last season was not enjoyable and Wednesday nights are about enjoying yourself. Turning up with less than a full side is not acceptable to me so reluctantly, Suzie and I have left the New Inn to go back to our old side.

We thank everyone here who makes this league such a great place to play pool. Clifty and the committee do a fantastic job and we're sorry to leave such dedicated people and our mates. Hopefully one day we'll be back but for now thanks for having us.

Sorry I went on but I don't want to leave and let a side fold without explaining my reasons. Good luck to you all, it promises to be a closer season, now come on Tyacks and White Hart, clip that bloody eagle's wings and come the end of the season we might have a new champion. What I do notice is that despite the Eagles always beating White Hart for some reason, and losing to Tyacks becoming a common thing for them, they always seem to turn over the weaker sides by massive margins. To defeat them overall you both need to go all out every night and don't accept any old win. Get 8 then push, push, push. Every frame counts. It's pointless beating them, winning more matches if they still win more frames than you. Sorry Clifty for egging on your opposition but a closer league is a better league and you really don't want to walk it every year do you??? Plus it makes much more excitement for the neutral coz I'm still gonna follow the league and it would be good for everyone to prove the mighty Eagles can be toppled.

See ya.

Re: Goodbye for now

Yep, i'd just like to reiterate what Mr Bowden says, New Inn still have a team and at the rate Mr Bowden is signing players he'll probably have enough for a B side as well! Anyway going back to little Dave's post, it's a shame to see both he and Susie leaving the league but i'd rather have players leave than be unhappy playing. He's had a difficult season with people coming and going but he still managed to get some great results. Credit to Mr Bowden as well though for stepping in and keeping the side going, i know it's not the easiest of tasks getting players. I have heard from a few people that the standard from some of the sides in our league is too high (which i make no apology for) so they'd rather play in the other league as they have more chance of winning. Now i can understand this and fair play to people for admitting this but i'd much rather play the best as it's the only way to improve plus if you win the league then you know you're the best that season. Myself and little Dave have been friends for years and i know this isn't why he's leaving the league, in fact, it's the reason he joined in the first place as he wanted to play the tougher opposition, it's just a shame things haven't worked out but i wish him and Susie all the best.

Maybe with little Dave in the other league he can help try to arrange a match or two between the two leagues as i'm sure there are a few teams/players in that league who think they're better than this league. My opinion is that there are some good players in the other league but i don't think any of their teams would finish in the top 3 of this league (this is based purely on the fact Red Jackets and White Hart dominated the District league before the split). The gap at the top of this league is closing and if it doesn't happen this season then it's only a matter of time before another team win the league...although i'd happily be wrong!

Re: Goodbye for now

Funny now you can make a full team! when you had some decent players you did not pull your finger out then! they will soon get fed up with people saying they are leaving to play for tyacks i give you a few weeks til you start struggling again. It is never a full commited team when everyone is either leaving or going to leave. We would of stayed but we had no other players then, it is funny now that you can make a team it just looks like you were not even bothered when we were there. You had to wait till we were leaving and the team was looking dim to do something except piss around. Well i do wish you the very best of luck but just remember it was your fault saying you were leaving that put the knife in. I aint going to be nice like dave i am bitter cause your f***ing lazy and don't really deserve the team your in.

Re: Goodbye for now

Glad to hear it Joe. Unfortunately it's a shame these players weren't mentioned when I was pulling out what little hair I have left on my head. It's the truth that I didn't want to leave and enjoyed the premier league very much. I have good friends in both leagues but it was nice to partner Ivor "we need this one" Uren in the doubles last night and go back to playing for my old side. Won both my games too so quite happy. Who knows whether matches can be arranged between the two leagues, it's not as if the individual teams hold grudges and personally, I never have a problem playing red jackets or the white hart.

All the best to everyone involved in CRPPL and have a great christmas.

Re: Goodbye for now

First off merry crimbo -

Secondly dave no problem with u ur supporting your missus -

Thirdly susie what is up with you ... fucking hell woman. you have got some nerve !!! I know mr bowden isn't the most reliable person in the world but he said he wouldn't quit till the end of the season. The only reason he wanted to quit, was because of the shit you pulled in the penwith league. You were dropped plain and simple. In all honesty who else would lewis drop on the form that he had seen ?? me jason dan dave paulo graham himself ........you tell me .....and when you did play doubles you even said at the end "i wasn't really intrested anyway" after you lost. Now for me if im not first choice i play my upmost at every chance to get into the starting line up. Why should you be first choice? Im really not one for picking bones off people most of my posts on here are made in jest, but this needs to be said any comments back from you are welcome as always anyways im fucking nackered merry crimbo to all .
