Mens and Womens 2008 County Trials Dates

I know a few people from our area go to them so just to let you know that the Mens County Trials are being held at the Q Bar (Bodmin) on Sunday 13th January, registration is at 9-30am with matches starting at 10am (be warned, it can be a long day!). There are 8 places up for grabs and i'll put a link to the poster containing more information within the next couple of days. The Womens trials is Sunday 20th January at the same venue, starting at 11am. I'll also include the poster for this on here as well.

Re: Mens and Womens 2008 County Trials Dates

its great to see the "Captain" of the county B side advertising the mens county trial. Defo think u deserve the captaincy mate and good luck to all those involved this year. and if u do make it, hang in there in the rough beginnings as it will pay off in the end and u can then become a regular like clifty and bally are now. Special good luck goes to andy jory this year he's the most unluckiest pool player on the planet!!!! Someone make sure that he goes this year!

Re: Mens and Womens 2008 County Trials Dates

Thanks Mr Tonkin sir, i'm sure it will be an experience as Captain if nothing else. First game is away to Bristol on Feb 3rd so that should be a good test. As for Gerbil going to the trials, i can confirm that he is going and he's started to play really well again recently (although now i've said that, he'll probably lose tonight!) so hopefully he can go one step further than all those near misses he's had in the past. As well as Gerbil, Viper of the Year Biggy is going and if he shows his Inter League form then he's a good bet. Unconfirmed rumours are that Tris and Jamie maybe in attendance as well so fingers-crossed. You'd have thought the prospect of having me as their captain should they get through would put them off trialling but glad it hasn't! I believe a few others are going up as well including Mr Saundry, Mr Bowden and Mr O'Mahony so the more the merrier i say. Good luck to all. Anyway it can't be that hard if myself and Bally can qualify so give it a go! You coming down for the trials Mr Tonkin?

Agreed Mr Tonkin, Clifty deserves a shot as capitano of Cornwall 'B', and I'm more than sure he will do a good job. No disrespect... Well, bollocks, let's be honest, WITH disrespect, probably a lot better job than the last couple of captains have done! If not, then it's definitely not for the want of trying. One thing for sure - with '80s man' as captain every player, whether retained, re-qualified or newly qualified, will have a fair crack of the whip to prove themselves. That's actually one of the reasons I'm trialling again this year!

As for being an unlucky player, I'd have to disagree. If you manage to get to the very last qualifying round 1, 2, 3... etc. times and don't get in then you can't really call that unlucky. As much as I'd like to! More a barrier to overcome. Hopefully will prove I'm a worthy qualifier this year, looking forward to it, which is more than I have for the last 2/3 years. Did say I wouldn't trial again but, with Clifty confirmed as captain and my love of the game returned, I have to!!! Would like to get in the squad, but if I do or don't then I hope Biggy and Pistol get in. Biggy's form in Interleague has been superb (player of the year 2007, SIR?!) and Tris has proved his worth by finishing very high in the JCRPPL aggregates the last couple of seasons and coming from 4-0 down (fu**ing amazing that!) to beat Garibaldi (Garry Potter) 5-4 in the final of the Singles KO. Also Mr Trivia, trying to recapture the past glories, good luck to ya mate. Whatever happens, should be a cracking day, and the best of luck to everyone, especially all RJ Eagles players, who venture up to Bodmin!

It's something that shouldn't be mentioned! (i think that should answer the question for you!). As for your other question, i have it on good authority that Mr Harvey personally doesn't fix pool cues but there's a bloke there who'll have a look at it and tell you whether he can fix it or put it on the bonfire.
