Buck Up Eagles

Well, although the match finished 11-4 to Red Jackets last night, it was far from pretty. We were flatter than a one legged man in an arse kicking competition, with no spark at all and not much concern evident either. Talking of ass kicking, hopefully last night will have given us the boot up the behind we blatantly need. But then again, we've had that many recently it's becoming monotonous. Maybe it was just my perception of things but I found it slightly worrying that, apart from the odd exception, people didn't seem to be overly concerned with the level of performance last night, or last week. The general feeling seemed to be, "Well at least it was a win" or "I struggled but got there and that's all that counts". Absolute bo**ox, yes it is a massive part of the game to be able to play badly and still scrape an individual win now and then, but play like that every week (and it was exactly the same the week before against Tyacks) and it will be an even longer, harder season than it would have been anyway. People need to be a little more concerned and take ownership of the fact we're not playing well at the minute, dig in, grind out results, show our proper team spirit and play ourselves back to the level we should be at. Nobody is guaranteed to win a league title, or even a match, by just turning up in any sport/game, and nobody should expect to. We as a team need to take a long hard look at ourselves and maybe our attitude as well at the moment, before we travel too far down the slippery slope to mediocrity.

Right, rant over!!!!

Mr jory sir! That is some rant you have gone on there! Have you ever thought that the competition in the league may be not be to the high standards that you eagles try to acheive and because off that your standards slip or is it that the players in the league are getting better and theres a bit of pressure on you boys and that could be going througth your side and other teams can sence the fear!!!!!?lol!

Well said that man! But seriously in reply to Mr Murphy's post, i think a lot of it is to do with the recent couple of big inter league matches we've had where the atmosphere and tension has been the most i've ever experienced in pool so to then play a league match has left the team pretty flat. Nothing to worry about at the mo me thinks although if we're still like that next week or after Christmas then that'll be different. To be fair also, last night's 11-4 result is a great scoreline considering the Tuckingmill side have got some very handy players...although their results this season aren't what i'd have expected.

Re: Buck Up Eagles

I can see where your coming from there mr clift the intensity between local league pool and inter league pool is very diffrent indeed! It was the same when i played superleague. What you may need to consider is starting a vipers 'B' side which would give other players a chance to get a feel of what it is like to play superleague pool and may be some of that intensity can be transfered back into the league. This could make the league more competitive as other players skills and knowledge would grow! Let us know what you think.

Re: Buck Up Eagles

Apologies for the delay in replying Mr Murphy but my internet went down on Thursday and i've only just managed to get it working...although how long it's going to work for is anyone's guess!!! So a Vipers B side??? I believe Paulo is forming an Inter League side with various players from White Hart, New Inn and a few other places but i don't think it will be a Vipers B side, besides i doubt if any of them would be happy about being our B side. As all Inter League sides need to be affiliated to an EPA registered league i have no problem with registering their team through the CRPPL, all they'd need to do then is pay their Inter League team registration, the same as the Vipers do.

Going back to you Mr Lane, you really do need to chillout, Christmas is on the way...wahey!?!

While I'm on I would like to take Murvaish to task over his use of English

"Invitation" is asking someone to turn up to a party

"Invertation" is not, but it could be asking someone to turn upside down at a party
