Well, although the match finished 11-4 to Red Jackets last night, it was far from pretty. We were flatter than a one legged man in an arse kicking competition, with no spark at all and not much concern evident either. Talking of ass kicking, hopefully last night will have given us the boot up the behind we blatantly need. But then again, we've had that many recently it's becoming monotonous. Maybe it was just my perception of things but I found it slightly worrying that, apart from the odd exception, people didn't seem to be overly concerned with the level of performance last night, or last week. The general feeling seemed to be, "Well at least it was a win" or "I struggled but got there and that's all that counts". Absolute bo**ox, yes it is a massive part of the game to be able to play badly and still scrape an individual win now and then, but play like that every week (and it was exactly the same the week before against Tyacks) and it will be an even longer, harder season than it would have been anyway. People need to be a little more concerned and take ownership of the fact we're not playing well at the minute, dig in, grind out results, show our proper team spirit and play ourselves back to the level we should be at. Nobody is guaranteed to win a league title, or even a match, by just turning up in any sport/game, and nobody should expect to. We as a team need to take a long hard look at ourselves and maybe our attitude as well at the moment, before we travel too far down the slippery slope to mediocrity.
Right, rant over!!!!
