Back By Popular Demand - Fantasy League Pool!

Have you got what it takes to spot the bargain of the season and lead your side to the top of the league?

Just for a bit of fun, as per the previous two years, we are running a Fantasy Pool League. Working along the same lines as the popular Fantasy Football League, anyone is welcome to enter (whether they be a league player or not) at a cost of £5. Each competitor has £20million to spend on 6 players (you can't have more than 2 players from one side - this also includes the Robartes A and B players as, at the time of going to press, they're yet to be assigned their sides so only two players from squad) and throughout the season your players will win or lose points depending on their results in the Jolly's Camborne-Redruth Premier Pool League. The players you choose will be in your team for the whole season so choose wisely as no transfers are permitted. Each registered player for the 2009-10 season has been assigned with a value by the Fantasy Pool League Committee (who shall remain nameless to stop everyone moaning at them!) - this has been decided by the previous three years performances where possible. All entry money will go into the prize fund to pay 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the end of the season so the more entries the bigger prize pot (Biggy claimed the title and £60 1st prize in 2007-08 and Gerbil finished top winning £75 in 2008-09). Teams must be registered with me by 7pm on Tuesday 1st December (text 07787438304 or email adam@camborneredruthpool.co.uk stating team and manager) - the points will be backdated for the first week but don't be fooled into choosing all the players who did well in the opening fixture as the Fantasy League is a marathon not a sprint.

All the info you need can be found in the Fantasy League section.

Good luck!

PS i know everyone will have their own opinion on what they (or a team mate) are worth but please don't get upset by any of it, it's all subjective and at the end of the season each player's points do the talking, not the value.

Re: Back By Popular Demand - Fantasy League Pool!

Two more teams have registered today (Paul Murphy and Mark Griffiths' sides) and the cut-off point is before the matches tonight. All the teams and standings will be included at the weekend but just so everyone knows my team was selected before the cut-off point i thought i'd better include it here, it is: D. Isaacs (3.5m), H. Wise (2.5m), S. Fenton (2.5m), P. Jose (2.5m), A. Jory (5m), T. Prigg (5m). That's the winning team this year folks!

Because i run the Fantasy League and though i'd allow myself an extra million...either that or i was in a rush to type out my team and put S. Fenton's value down as £2.5mill instead of the £1.5mill it actually is - i'll let you decide which one it is!

Well i had planned to put them on here this weekend but i've been on my death bed the last couple of days and haven't ventured near my pc until now, couple that with the fact that i'm still missing three result cards for this week and that makes it very awkward to put up all the fantasy teams, points and standings. As soon as the cards come in then everything will be included.

Re: Back By Popular Demand - Fantasy League Pool!

All the teams and standings have now been included in the Fantasy Pool League section and as you'll see, after a couple of sesasons where i've finished just outside the honours, i'm nailed on to win this year with my Cliftal Palace team running away with the league...although admittedly there are still 20+ weeks to go! (although with Gerbil and the Pistol in my team who knows if i'll even finish top half!). It's a Clift double whammy with the old bloke in second spot with Roger's Rogues. Third spot is a two-way tie with Jo McGuire's Best Bits Of The League and The Bullets (Tristan Prigg) level pegging. Reigning champ's Andy's Aces (Andy Jory) aren't far off the pace in sixth spot but spare a thought for the Flying Purple People Eaters (Adam Lockwood) and The Potters (Gareth Ball) who already look set for a dogfight at the foot of the table.

For the people who have yet to pay, if they could do so within the next week then that would be most appreciated.

--- andyjory

Well i thought it must be my turn after fixing it for Biggy the first year and then you last year! Was a good job i put my team on here before last week's match though otherwise i'm sure some people would say that...oh hang on you're still saying that! Mind you, i don't really fancy my chances with you and Tris in my line-up!

Re: Back By Popular Demand - Fantasy League Pool!

My winning year last year was pure talent. If you win this time it'll be luck! Or a fix!

Well me and the pissed-all are doing you alright so far! Results wise at least, if not performance...

Hopefully that'll change tonight though. The performance part, not the results?!

Not anymore Beryl, it appears that the old bloke (Roger's Rogues) has shot his load too soon and dropping down fast...unlike his son (Cliftal Palace) who's showing great stamina at the top. Best Bits of the League (Jo McGuire) has moved into second spot and last year's winners' Andy's Aces (Andy Jory) move menacingly into third spot. At the other end, The Potters (Gareth Ball) are starting to make a move in the right direction but it looks like it could be a long season ahead for the Flying Purple People Eaters (Adam Lockwood) at the foot but he could have some company from the Northern Monkeys (Amy Holloway) who are in freefall.

Please note that as stated in the rules, the Team KO doesn't carry points for this so these will be the standings going into the New Year. Also for those who haven't paid yet, if they could do so soon then that would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Back By Popular Demand - Fantasy League Pool!

Have finally received all the outstanding result cards so have now been able to update the Fantasy Pool League standings. Cliftal Palace (yours truly) still head the table but they've had their lead pegged back to just two points, as the Best Bits Of The League (Jo McGuire) remain in second spot. Max's Moonmen (Joe Bowden) are a further two points adrift in third spot, closely followed by a host of teams, headed by The GFC Grinders (Mark Denning), all with aspirations of breaking into the top three. At the other end of the table, the Potters (Gareth Ball) look like they're going to have a long hard season ahead of them.

There are still a few people yet to pay so if they could do so asap then that would be most appreciated as everyone entered agreeing to the £5 entry fee and i don't want to go chasing up the money. Many thanks.
