Penwith Pool
Hi everyone, if you don't know yet then some of us have entered the Penwith Pool league to have a bash at some new venues and generally show em how good our pool is up here. Under the influential and charismatic leadership of Mr Graham " The Colonel" Pilsbury, we missed our first week due to our home pub (The Bucket of Blood) having no pool table yet!

However, we got off to a stuttering win but any win would do for a new side. Bit dubious how the ref missed a blatant foul when they potted the final black, 8-4 would have been far better than 7-5. Watch the bloody refs I think!

Anyone interested can view our progress at http://www.penwithpoolleague.co.uk

I'm sure it's gonna be an eventful season and we've some great players signed up if you exclude yours truly :P

Yeah, i believe that yours truly and a few other Red Jackets players are signed on as well but i don't actually think any of us will be playing as we already play in the Mining Pool League on a Thursday. Always enjoy the Vipers playing the Penwith lads...especially a couple of weeks ago when we beat them 23-13! The Penwith league has got some strong sides in the Premier division and a few of us might play if we were in that division but i believe 'Pilsbury's All-stars' are in the division below. I enjoy their website though and post on their every now and then. Good luck to your boys and i'll watch your progress.

Re: Penwith Pool

Well a bit of time has passed and despite yours truly being undefeated in the league so far this season we are going ok despite losing narrowly to fellow promotion contenders Turnpike. (Not the same side that used to play on wednesdays!!!).

Division 1 P HW AW D F Pts

1.Trevelyan Arms "A" 6 3 2 1 53 53

2.Turnpike Inn 6 2 3 1 50 50

3.Godolphin Arms "A" 5 3 0 1 41 41

4.Bucket of Blood "B" 5 2 2 0 39 39

5.St Just RFC "D" 6 1 2 0 36 36

6.R A O B 6 1 2 1 36 36

7.Seven Stars "A" 6 1 0 2 30 30

8.Commercial Hotel "B" 4 2 0 2 28 28

9.First & Last Inn 6 1 0 0 25 25

9.Star Inn "B" 6 1 0 0 25 25

11.Mousehole RBL 4 1 1 0 23 23

12.Dolphin Tavern 4 0 0 1 15 15

13.King WilliamIV "B" 5 0 0 1 15 15

At this point I think we need to get a couple of decent sized wins to narrow the gap to the top sides and with our game in hand we're looking handily placed for the promotion drive as the season gathers pace. So you'd play in the premier then Clifty, well no doubt you'd be welcomed to the ranks and as long as you didn't nab my place then I'd be glad to relive the kind of team spirit we once had in the almighty Tyacks side of the 90's. I seem to remember a certain Dave "The Hat" saying I was the best player in the team at one point, although I think he might have been pissed at the time!

Re: Penwith Pool

Another thing is that as of next week the team is no longer "Pilsbury's All-Stars" but "Saundry's Superstars" as the Doc is leaving us all to work in Devon. I'll post something proper to the main site in order to let us all honour the sad departure of this local legend.

Ah yes the days of playing at Tyacks in the 90's, happy memories with Keasty, Tucker and Honeychurch as well. As for Dave the Hat's comment, did he make that when you won your first 9 games of the season, as i can't imagine he said that when you went on to lose your next 9 games!?! Also let's not forget playing football for Tyacks Hotel FC in 1997-98 - quality times. Anyway with regards to your Penwith side, glad to hear you're still doing well and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Re: Penwith Pool

after a poor start to the season the team has finally started to show its true colours recording an impressive 12- 0 win last week and a 10 - 2 win last night, hopefully we can carry on and build from these results
