Best of the Best!
There seems to be some pool players from both leagues that think the other red/cam pool league is crap and the players that play in those leagues are crap and the league its self is crap! As i have played in both of the leagues i can honestly say the are good and bad players in each league and both leagues are good! So what i have been thinking is that maybe a match could be arranged between both leagues! Best of the Best from each league comeing head to head on the pool table to settle this matter. If anything it should be intresting!

re: Best of the Best!
I've been trying to get a game between both league winners before. Last season Oxford won the other league and i asked their then captain little Dave about playing us in a Champions match - he was up for it but sadly most of his team wasn't. The RJ side will happily play anyone, we know most of the players and teams from the other league as it was only last summer that we won it. Mr Murphy sir, if you can get the other league to get a side to play us then we'll gladly play. Maybe the match could carry an incentive as well - each side or league put in say £50 and the winning side get to choose a local charity for it to be donated to?

re: Best of the Best!
Cracking idea mr clift about putting some money in a kitty for the winning team to donate to which charity they like.To be honest would it be worth your teams time to play the oxford inn? You and i know your team would take them apart on the baize.I cant see how they won it to be honest and i dont mean to afend them but they are a week side. There are some very good individuals which play and may be up for the challange. Dont worry mr clift ill be back at the WH in the winter to honour you with my presence and grace your baize!(lol).

re: Best of the Best!
good idea but the way that scum league has shit all over us i think it would be more of a punch up than a match,mr clift knows my feelings as i have chatted on a number of occasions with people from that league and all of them have been ill advised about our league, how could they even suggest that the standard is poor, you have teams winning the crap league now that used to prop up the rest of us when we played in it,its a terrible standard and run like a shambles. The only reason we left is through tiredness of lack of recognition ie trophies and started our own one,and yes it might be a small league but two sides play in it that have dominated the two top spots over the last 5 years.

re: Best of the Best!
Speaking on behalf of the Red Jackets Eagles side, we couldn't have a punch-up with a side in the other league...it would be like cheating on White Hart! I am indeed aware of your feelings Mr Lane and may i say that i think playing alongside Mr Tonkin has had an influence on you as you're starting to post 'interesting' messages like him! I hear what you're saying though, as when teams don't play against other times for a year or so they do tend to forget losing to those teams before and start getting more confident of beating anyone. That said, the teams in the other league may have strengthened their sides and perhaps could beat us...i'd love to have a chance to find out. How's about the top four teams in each league go into 2 groups of four for a little Champions League KO and (2 teams from each league in both groups) and perhaps each league could put in say £30 and this would cover trophies. Could publicise it a bit as well or maybe get a sponsor for the event? This would also give the midtable sides something to play for near the end of the season to try and finish in the top 4. I'm always up for stuff like this so any competition between the 2 leagues is a good idea in my book. Mr Murphy sir, perhaps you could mention the ideas to Mr Knuckey, i would but he seems a hard man to get hold of.

Hang on, was you talking about the golf? (i was). If you were talking about the champions league idea then your team would qualify anyway.

re: Best of the Best!
Don't know where your view that the Oxford are a weak side came from. It's obvious you weren't playing in the CRDPL last season as we beat the puffers 3 times last season, twice in the league and once in the cup final. We lost the first game of the season to Threemilestone and lost to the Robbers once then somehow lost to Trevenson??? but that was it. We won every other match.
As you say there are good players in the old league but the standard is nowhere near as high and the best ten players in this league are easily better than anyone in the old league. I hate to say that coz I'm not even putting myself in that ten.
I take it you have played the Oxford this season. I do agree that they have a weaker side than last season, mainly because I left along with Suzie who plays for the county. Also Barry Mitchell is unable to play this season so half the side effectively has gone. I know the replacements and they are pretty weak compared to those that left. We made a meal of winning the leage if the truth is known and should have won it with a match in hand as at one stage we were top with a game in hand. Just don't make it sound as if we fluked it. They'd have been challenging again had the team stayed the same.

re: Best of the Best!
When you do eventually get hold of Simon can you remind him that he still has to sort out an aggregate play off for me and get a committee meeting sorted as the presentation evening needs sorting. I have text him but he seems to have gone AWOL!!! I'll keep bugging him on his phone but he might do something if you bug him as well.

re: Best of the Best!
It's all relative...
Taken in the context of the 'old' CRDPL, Oxford Inn may well be viewed as a half decent team.
In respect to plonking that selfsame team in the 'new' and improved Premier League... Weak as pi*s!!!!!
P.s - No disrespect to either Mr Murphy or Mr Moore, they are both decent players - and who will both be playing in the Jolly's Premier Pool League next season!!!! Good job too, would have been a bit of a waste of talent if they were both left rotting away in the other league...

re: Best of the Best!
Why Mr O'Mahoney, what's so funny? You must be grateful for my gifting you a win in your shit table. If memory serves thats the only game we've played so I think you should take heed to Mr Jory's post and be warned coz you aint so unbeatable yourself. I did beat Mr clift in his last 2 captains games of the old crdpl and beat bally out there in the same season so I don't find your silly post funny at all and look forward to having the last laugh when we play again.

re: Best of the Best!
How the hell have i got drawn into this discussion??? Anyway little Dave, beating me in a captain's game is not a rarity i'm afraid, everyone beats me in the captains game...mind you, if memory serves me right (and i think it does!) i went on to claim the winners trophy (although i haven't seen it yet!) despite you beating me twice!

re: Best of the Best!
First off mr moore sir my name has no 'e' in the surname.
Secondly i've never said that i was unbeatable nor have i ever implied that i am.
Thirdly it will be a pleasure to beat you again next week on your own table, so put yourself down as forth and you've got yourself a match sir. .. and if by some miracle i lose i'll buy you a drink.....
at the end of the day as long as the team wins im not worried

re: Best of the Best!
Ok, I take note on the spelling. I'll remember it for the gloating after. On that note, Mr Jory never called me a "descent" player, I wasn't descending anything, he said I was a "decent" player. I normally only ever play six so one of us is going to have to move if you want this match up. It would be good to show you how lucky you were that I didn't turn up for our first match.
