Cornwall Champions Pool League & UEFA Cup???
I was thinking (hard to believe i know!) that it would be good to have a separate event to qualify for at the end of the season, kind of like the Champions League and UEFA Cup in football. The reason behind this is that teams in 3rd and 4th place will have something to aim for as well. What i mean by this is that if we can get a few leagues from across Cornwall involved then, say for example, the top two from each local league qualify for the County Champions Team KO and teams that finish in 3rd and 4th qualify for the County Plate Team KO. Obviously the format of frames differs from league to league but this could be decided and also if each league were to put £50 into it (and maybe gain sponsorship for the event) then the prize funds could be quite substantial. Obviously i haven't thought this through much yet but it would be good to play teams from other areas eg Truro, Penwith, St Austell, Falmouth, Bodmin, Newquay etc. I think a few leagues may be interested as it gives the teams in the league something to qualify for. Does anyone else have any feelings on this?

Great idea in theory. Obviously depends on not only the different leagues' personnel/organisers agreement but also on whether the relevant eligible teams would want to do it. I'd imagine in most cases the top couple or so teams would put themselves forward, e.g in our league we'd jump at the chance, and I'm sure White Hart would as well (if we both finish in the top 2 spots that is).
Probably be some discussion and disagreement first off re - format, as most leagues differ and would probably put a case forward for 'their' format to be played, but would certainly make it interesting with regard to all the to and fro debate you often hear about the varying quality of different leagues, best individual teams etc etc.
I think it's one of those things where if you can get a half-decent amount of interest in the first year and publicise it a bit, it could catch on and grow...
P.s - Not jumping ahead but surely if there's a Champions' League and UEFA cup there should be an annual Super Cup?? :-)

SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN MR CLIFT SIR. YOU'LL NEED TO CONTACT THE SECRETARY OF EACH LEAGUE AND SEE WHAT THEY THINK BUT I IMAGINE THERE WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM WITH IT. (YOU PROBABLY KNOW A COUPLE OF THEM ANYWAYS). THE ONLY HEAD ACHE I CAN THINK ABOUT IS VENUES AND FORMAT !!!

I don't think venues would be a problem as you could play home and away over 2 legs. The format would need to be discussed but i'd be happy to play any format. I know a few of the secretaries and i'll also mention it at the next Cornwall County Pool Assocciation committee meeting as maybe it could be run through the county, no harm in enquiring?
